Tuesday Freebie. 40th Surprise Birthday party!

I hope your week has been a great one so far! I always struggle a bit at the beginning of a new week. The transition from the weekend to a brand new week is always a bit challenging for my family.  Today we are off to a good start though! :)

Surprise party for my 40 old hubby!

When my husband turned the age of 40 a few weeks ago he was NOT happy about it. He was actually a bit depressed!
I decided that I wanted to lift his spirits a bit by throwing him a surprise party! You have to know my husband. He does not like being the center of attention at all! So, I decided to keep it to just close friends and family.

I scheduled a room at our near by church. After all, my husband has a rather large family and couldn't fit everyone in my home.

Having the party at the church ended up being a wonderful idea! We ended up having about 30 guests.

Since my husband was already having a difficult time with his new age I wanted to make the party light and happy.

Being the sentimental person that I am, I made all of the decorations. This made it very personal and inexpensive too!
I made a 12 x12 birthday card for the guests to sign so I could file away with all of the rest of my scrapbook pages.

My favorite part about the party was reading the funny and nice things our friends and family had to say about my husband. (As the guest arrived, I had them write on a piece of paper something about my husband. And it could be ANYTHING!) It was really fun and touching.

I made everything digitally and with Heritage Collector Storybook and Designs by Krista's "Revive" kit.

The invitation

Fun photo Pin Wheel center pieces

These center pieces were very easy to make and VERY inexpensive!
I just used a mason jar. Filled it with three different kind of beans,
and tied a raffia bow around the top. The placed the photo pin wheel
and another smaller solid pin wheel . This cost about $8.00 to make
6 center pieces!

I created a 12 x12 page on photo paper and had the guests
sign as they came in.

Another close up of part of the center pieces.

The party seemed to be a huge success! My husband was completely surprised and had a great time! Even though he was put on the spot, he had a wonderful time talking with family and friends.

Free online Class. Photo Pin wheel, Great Mothers Day gift idea

Free Online Class

We are getting ready to teach another free online class this Thursday on Storytelling. This is a class you will not want to miss! We are going to teach you how to put your photos into a slideshow with narrative! We will even show you how to put your slideshow on a gift cd! This is just in time for Mothers day coming up!
The class will be on Thursday April 19th 7pm Mst.

6-7:00 pm - Pacific
7-8:00 pm - Mountain
8-8:00 pm - Central
9-10:00 pm - Eastern

Here is the direct link for you to sign up on.
Sign up for the Free class here.
Can't wait to see you all there!

Many of you are struggling to determine the best way to share your history. Coming up with the time and money to print, bind and mail your history may be an impossible dream. Deciding where to start can seem frustrating and confusing. Writing may seem overwhelming and take too long. Sharing stories via a slideshow may be the place to start and perfect solution. Slide shows are fun and inexpensive to share.

Photo Pinwheel, Great Mother's Day Gift Idea!

I am getting ready to put together a surprise birthday party for my husband and wanted to come up with a fun unique idea for center pieces.

My husband is very outdoorsy and doesn't like anything really phroo phroo. (is that  a word?)

This is what I came up with....

This was so easy to make using Heritage Collector Storybook! I plan to display these in glass jars like a mini bouquet of flowers.

This is all you need to make a very inexpensive photo pinwheel! This is just a little sneek peak! I will be having free online class on how to do this very soon!

Make sure to come back, I will have more postings on this and other really cute ideas very soon!

Thanks for stopping by!  -Kathleen

Saturday Freebie, How To! Mother's Day Card, Customize your Facebook Timeline.

Well, we are definitely ready for Spring Break at my house!
My son had his last day of school for a week! I think I'm more excited to have him home than he is!

Easter came upon us fast this year. This weekend we have Three egg hunts scheduled! So, you can imagine the amount of photos I will be taking!

About a year ago, I did a free online class on how to make an Easter page with Heritage Collector. I am going to share that same video with you today.

Hopefully, it will help get you excited about how easy Heritage Collector is to use!

Click here to view the pre recorded video on how to make an easter page with Heritage Collector. Enjoy!

Mothers Day Card Ideas.

I have many of our users ask about photo card templates. Well, I know I've mentioned that we will have some templates for you. I promise they are in the works!

Marlo's recovery from Cancer back in December has turned out to be a very slow process. He is doing better though. He still has his ups and downs.

Because of this terriable event in December with his health, it has set us back quite a bit.

Thank you for being so patient with us!

I in hopes that these templates will be ready for you to purchase in a few weeks! Here is a little Mothers day card teaser for you!

7 x 5 Photo card. Made using Heritage Collector Storybook and a kit of graphics from Deisgns by Krista.

The new Facebook Timeline.

I have had some users ask me about customizing their own Facebook Timelines. They weren't even sure how to do it.

Creating your new facebook timeline is super easy to do in Heritage Collector.

Mine only took about 20 minutes to make.

Here's a little brief step by step process on how to do this.

  • Make sure your desired graphics and photos are imported into Heritage Collector
  • Open up the storybook module
  • Create a new storybook and page
  • Go to the custom page size tab
  • Select 11.0 x 4.0 page size
  • Drag your select photos and graphics over to rearrange as desired
  • Save
  • Close Storybook
  • Open up your Storybook collection with your timeline page in Heritage Collector, not storybook
  • Select the newly created page by just right clicking on it.
  • Select export
  • Then move it to a place on your computer where you will be able to find it when you open up Facebook.
Here is an example of what mine looks like. Good luck!

I will be teaching a free online class on how to do this, this coming Thursday sometime in the afternoon. I will announce the time and sign up process in a few days.

Monday Freebie! More birthday card ideas, over the hill birthday card ideas.

I am so glad spring is almost here!
One of my favorite things to do is work in my vegetable and flower gardens. It's so therapeutic to me! I hope the weather just continues to get better and better so I can continue my yard work!!

This past week I have once again been pretty busy so I haven't had to much time to work on any new and exciting projects.

I did however manage to work on more card templates for you! I will give you another sneak peek!

First, I would like to pass along a free kit from Designs by Krista! She has joined a blog train and invited us to join in the fun!
